Where does inspiration come from? Is it initiated by our environment, or does it begin from within? I often find myself asking questions that don't have immediate answers, like, "Why did I have to go through that to learn this?" Whatever "this" or "that" may be, it's crucial for our development as individuals. These experiences provide us with clues about which directions we need to commit to and which ones to avoid.
One universal trait all humans share is the innate drive to contribute to others. How we contribute depends on the gifts and clues that The Creator of the universe allows us to understand. Perhaps we don't know everything about our purpose because we might try to alter the work predestined according to The Creator's perfect will.
Recently, I was asked: If I could go back in time and change some of the decisions I've made in my life, would I? I can admit I've crashed into a couple of walls, climbed many hills, and swam against the current on a few occasions. I've also faced various levels of adversity and survived to tell the tale. Changing anything about the past could alter my current progress in unpredictable ways. I consider myself an experiment that God delights in testing to ensure the hypothesis is correct. I suppose I'll never know the results of this hypothesis until I meet the afterlife. Until then, I'm committed to being aware of the clues and detours that navigate me toward The Creator's will.
I believe inspiration is the inner compass that designates each of our coordinates in life. Many of us are traveling the same road but heading to different destinations. What we are inspired to do navigates us to where we need to be. Follow your compass. To be continued…
